I have had such a wonderful week- first with a little trip up to Liverpool where I finally visited the Open Eye Gallery. Richard Mosse’s work is superb, to describe it in words wouldn’t do it justice, you just have to go and visit it and see it on the walls. Open Eye is a beautiful space with lots of daylight situated on Mann Island, well worth a trip up there.

Secondly, I was a Portfolio Reviewer at Sony World Photography Organization at Somerset House this Saturday and Sunday. I was completely bowled over by the work of two photographers in particular- Matthias H. Risse and Fiona Essex. I must say that there is nothing more charming and endearing than a Photographer that has no idea how great they are nor what their potential is. Matthias blew me away with his landscapes and the subtle human traces within them and Fiona for producing such a high volume of consistently good portraits and for really living and breathing the documentary story she shot for her book. A gentleman called Fabrizio Intonti also gave me the most delicately lit image of an elderly man sleeping which made my day as I could look at it for ages. Thank you! I have found so much work I want to exhibit at Underground Gallery next year. I will post more on the new photographers I have discovered at a later date. I will also be thinking about a regular slot to do portfolio reviews at Underground Gallery. Perhaps the first Saturday of every month?

We have Photo Voice’s PV at Underground Gallery this Thursday eve! Come join us, everyone is welcome. I will also be down at the Menier Gallery this Tuesday supporting our Natalie Dawkins.
